Alfonso Alvarado is the Head Band Director for the O’Connor Panther Band. Mr. Alvarado served as the Head Director at Brackenridge High School and previously was the Head Director and Department Chair at Fox Tech High School and Memorial High School. He also was an assistant band director at Southside High School and East Central High School.

Under his direction, his bands have earned Superior Division at UIL Concert and Sightreading for 12 years in a row, were named TMEA Region Honor Band in 2013, 2015, and 2017, and were Area Honor Band runner-up twice. His marching bands have competed in the UIL Area Marching contest, BOA Super Regional, and were the Battle of Flowers Feature Band in 2012.
Mr. Alvarado serves as an adjudicator for UIL Concert and Sightreading, was a Region Band Clinician and Conductor, and served TMEA as the Region 11 Jazz Band Division Chair.
Mr. Alvarado brings an incredible amount of passion, energy, and love for music education to O’Connor High School and is excited about leading and being a part of the excellence and tradition that is The Panther Band.
