Jose Marin
Associate Director, Sandra Day O'Connor High School

Jose Marin is in his 10th year of teaching and is currently in his sixth year at O'Connor High School as an Associate Band Director/Percussion Director in Helotes, TX.


Prior to his appointment at O'Connor, Mr. Marin taught as several programs in Houston and the DFW area. The groups that he worked with were highly competitive and have won several Best Percussion Awards at local marching contests and first place at the TCGC Championships in Scholastic A Class with Pearland HS in 2016.


He has also been with Violet Crown for the past two years on the battery staff and is fortunate to be apart of a great team. Violet Crown has had a lot of success in the Texas indoor drumline scene having placed first at WGI regionals and the TCGC Championships. They also made Finals in Independent Open Class in 2019.


Mr. Marin holds a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of North Texas, where he was fortunate to have studied under Paul Rennick, Christopher Deane, Dr. Robert Schietroma, Ryan Kilgore, Dave Hall, Jose Aponte, Mike Drake, Henry Okstel, and Ed Smith. In his spare time, Mr. Marin enjoys going on hikes around the country and traveling abroad.
